About Me

My name is Alex Welling, and I am honored to be a candidate for the Cajon Valley School Board. Let me share a bit about myself:

  • Family: I’ve been fortunate to call Katie my wife since 2017, and together, we’re raising three incredible children: Dean, Bellamie, and Trace. Family is at the heart of everything I do.

  • Roots: My roots are firmly planted in the communities of El Cajon and Chula Vista. These neighborhoods have shaped my values and commitment to community service.

Education and Professional Journey

  • Education: Education has always been a cornerstone of my life. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Utah and pursued further studies, obtaining a Master’s in Legal Studies from Washington University in St. Louis.

  • Public Service: Throughout my professional journey, I’ve remained committed to conservative values and public service. I’ve had the privilege to work alongside esteemed leaders such as Congressman Darrell Issa, Utah Congressional Candidate Carl Wimmer, former Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz, and Utah Senator Mike Lee, contributing to causes I deeply believe in. I also served as a Board Member for the City of Chula Vista’s Ethics Commission

  • Experience: From grassroots campaigning to strategic public affairs, my experiences have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of community needs and effective communication strategies. I’ve spearheaded initiatives like opening a GOTV (Get Out the Vote) office to support Brian Bilbray’s reelection in 2012 and played pivotal roles in award winning public affairs programs, focusing on the transportation, energy, and water sectors.

  • Current Role: Currently, I serve as a Communications Manager for SDG&E (San Diego Gas & Electric), where I oversee strategic communications and media relations for the company’s wildfire resiliency and emergency management programs.
